Lorenzo was a Westrian human, a Lakeholmer and count of Stillwater county. He was born on 42 Hs 478 DC and died in 527 at the age of 50 during a massive devil invasion that devastated Lakeholm. He was 6'2“ and had brown eyes and short brown hair, and a well-groomed pencil mustache.
He was known for being friendly, flamboyant, and empathetic.
Lorenzo Lovell's family had been in control of the County of Stillwater for 300 years, since the usurpation of The Old Kingdom. Though positions like the Count's would have in the past been appointed by the King, his family remained in control of the county like a monarchy. He was supportive of the Old Kingdom, and considered it his duty to keep the county and its people safe until the return of the kingdom one day.
Lorenzo was a dashing man, even in his late forties. His thick brown hair was well cut, its slight wave framing his face and falling across his forehead. He had a pencil mustache and otherwise was clean-shaven most of the time. He was very well-dressed and as the Count of Stillwater was expected to be so. Tailored doublets with intricate brocading, velvet high-collared capes, and lined leather boots made up most of his wardrobe, especially when in town or attending events.
Personality
There's never been a man more loyal to his people than Count Lovell.
Silvius Horner, Captain of the Guard
Lorenzo was a very charismatic individual, who enjoyed speaking to anyone who would lend their ear. He was always interested in what someone had to say, whether they be a wealthy merchant from afar or a farmer of Stillwater. Most people in Lakeholm still have a good opinion of him, talking about how friendly, warm, and empathetic he was.
Biography
Lorenzo was raised in the Lakeholm Keep, the second son of the Count of Stillwater. His parents had three children, of which their eldest son died in his early teens in a riding accident. Lorenzo was then to become the heir to the title after his brother and took up the responsibility with seriousness. His younger sister lived in the keep with them until she married a wealthy landowner near Wulford. At the age of 22, he married Adriana, and they had a daughter named Luciana shortly after. This was their only child and the first time a son was not born to the Lovells. This proved a difficult situation for him, as his daughter was also resistant to their wishes to marry a noble husband.
Traditionally, his family has always been a supporter of The Old Kingdom, holding steady to the County of Stillwater until the King's line could come back into power. However, that was a long time ago, and many generations have passed. Though the Counts still swear fealty to the Old Kingdom officially, for many of them it has come to be a formality more than anything, as they have long since lost hope of it ever returning to power. These days, they enjoy their land fiefdom in relative peace, not ever really having aspirations of governing the south or challenging the CotF in the west. The Lovell family was beginning to lose favour with the local populace over the past few generations of Counts, with many of the people beginning to realize they had effectively become a monarchy and done nothing at all to uphold the values of the Old Kingdom. This support was completely rewon by the dashingly handsome and remarkably charismatic Lorenzo, the appointment of Magistrate Roderick, and a following boom in the economy under the Magistrate's open trading policy with the CotF.
He met the Dawn's Watch during a dinner at the Magistrate's home on 41 Hs 525. he was getting desperate to marry his daughter to anyone who seemed worthy and interesting to her. He hoped one of them could be a suitor, as he'd heard they were strong adventurers. This did not work out as planned, as his daughter ran away with them instead, though this was not known to him at the time. Luciana had left a note leading him to believe she had been captured by Hobgoblins. It was not until their return to Lakeholm in Pr 525 that he found out she had travelled with them, and had become some kind of rogue adventurer to his horror.
Connections
Lorenzo has always been friendly with the Dawn's Watch group. As a naturally charismatic man, he enjoyed their company and their tales of adventuring. His relationship with them turned from acquaintances to allies when they returned to Lakeholm in Pr 525 and freed him from imprisonment by the Obsidian Order. He has considered them allies to the county since, and has leaned on them heavily for advice and support for the cause.
